I think technology gets in the way of treating clients and customers like people.
With all this talk of automation, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, and more, I feel in the quest for efficiency we’re exchanging interactions for transactions. Commerce over connection. We forget there are still humans in the conversation.
I’m no technophobe but I’m certainly biased. I’m in the client services business, after all. But if we treat clients and customers like any other commodity, we just might disenfranchise the entire human race.
And so, when dealing with one another in an ever more automated world, I humbly request you remember this —

I moved to Singapore for this job. Four years very well spent.
▪ Directed several key accounts exceeding $2m in revenue with 4 direct reports while coordinating a support team of 12 staff.
▪ Spearheaded a March 2021 pitch that expanded key account client departments from 2 to 18, quadrupling overall revenue since 2020 and accounting for 25% of company revenue.
▪ Achieved 180% increase in profit and 4x annual revenue on key $300k+ account (ask me how!).
▪ Won Silver for MARKies “Best Account Manager” in 2021 and 2022. It was a shame they cancelled the category after that, my 2023 submission was shaping up to be one hell of a story.

I wanted to focus on more client-facing work so I shifted agencies within GroupM Malaysia. They were very kind to let me.
▪ Planned and managed campaigns for key clients across multiple markets with budgets from RM20k to RM3m+.
After this I let my contract with GroupM expire to focus on fiction writing. Best thing I ever did.

GroupM was kind enough to hire me. They knew I wanted to be in Malaysia.
▪ Lead media planning and digital ad operations for campaigns with budgets from RM10k – RM1m+.
But ultimately the role wasn’t the right fit. I asked GroupM HR for a transfer.
